Source: Rapids have interest in former Union head coach John Hackworth

After firing Pablo Mastroeni several weeks ago, the Colorado Rapids have yet to name his permanent replacement. But at least one name has emerged as a potential frontrunner for the position.
Multiple sources tell Metro that former Philadelphia Union head coach John Hackworth is the “top candidate” to replace Mastroeni. Hackworth is currently in his second tour of duty with the U-17 national team, both of his stints with the U-17 program having been highly successful.
One source said that the Rapids have reached out to the United States Soccer Federation about Hackworth.
In three years with the Union, Hackworth was 20-23-14 and failed to make the playoffs. He had one of the lowest payrolls in MLS during his three seasons with the team but his teams earned a reputation for working hard and be tenacious.
