The South Street Spring Festival is back Saturday, with three stages, eight performance areas, 40 bands, 30 restaurants and bars, 100 vendors and a two-story-tall May Pole with 50-foot ribbons. They’re going big this year.
South Street Headhouse District expects “tens of thousands” to pack South Street between Front and Eighth streets from 11 .am. to 8 p.m. Philadelphia Magic Gardens’ ART/GAGE (1020 South St.) will be on hand with community art projects, and bar/restaurant Brauhaus Schmitz (718 South St.) will host a Mai Fest with German food, beer, music and costumed dancers.
There will also be a “heroes zone” honoring the American Red Cross, the police and fire departments, the coast guard and others.
