Philly really is lucky this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and it’s time to party like we’re all at the end of a rainbow.
Lucky’s Charm, Philly’s first-ever St. Patrick’s Day pop-up bar will be opening its doors this Friday at 5 p.m., pending final stages of approval, which are in the works. The bar will get everyone in the Irish spirit featuring an assortment of themed drinks, treats and decorations to match the festive occasion.
Lucky’s Charm comes from Rob Wasserman, owner of Rittenhouse hotspot Rouge and will be opening in the same scenic area. Wasserman partnered with the team from Happy Rooster to create this St. Patrick’s Day haven.
“It’s magically malicious,” said Wasserman in the release. “Lucky’s Charm takes you on a magical journey through an enchanted Irish forest bar, where you will follow the rainbow to the end for your chance to dance inside of a glitzed-out pot of gold. Along the way, look for hidden leprechauns, hundreds of shamrocks, a life-sized unicorn, two full bars, a 30-foot long rainbow, Irish beers and St. Patrick’s Day-themed cocktails and snacks.”
The bar will be serving a slew of tasty drinks that will have everyone dancing the Irish jig all night long. Highlighted libations include ShamROCKED shots (made with melon liquor, Irish whiskey and Irish cream), Shamrock Champagne (made with champagne, orange juice and Blue Curacao), Taste the Rainbow (made with Jim Beam peach, green tea, sour mix and lemon-lime soda), Lucky Stars (made with Pinnacle vodka, pineapple juice and Sauza Aqua Fuerte Mango), and much more. All of the mixed cocktails at Lucky’s Charm will luckily only be priced at $10. The pop-up bar will also be offering some classic bar spirits as well including Guinness Stout, Dogfishead Sea Quench Ale, White Claws, wine options, soda and much more.
To help take your tastebuds on an Irish ride, Lucky’s Charm will also be serving up plenty of enticing treats including homemade Lucky’s Charm cereal treats dipped in chocolate, soft pretzels, hot dogs with various toppings, boozy cookies and milk with mint chocolate chip cookies and Irish Baileys spiked milk, plus popcorn in a variety of flavors, including corned beef, pickle, white cheddar and salt. Snacks will range anywhere from $2 to $7.
Lucky’s Charm will reside in the former home of Topper Spa & Salon—which is almost unrecognizable now with the themed decorations.
“When the opportunity came up to do something new in the former home of Topper’s on 19th Street, we wanted to jump on it,” said Wasserman in the release. “We had been wanting to do something fun, creative and light-hearted—and get out of our comfort zone. We had been mulling the idea of a holiday pop-up bar but wanted to do something unique and different. That’s when the idea came about for a St. Patrick’s Day theme bar. There’s always such great energy in the city around St. Patrick’s Day and in mid-March—and its full steam ahead to spring from there. My team and staff loved the idea and signed on immediately. The weather is starting to break and we can’t wait to make new memories with everyone. This was our first introduction to transforming a space in a short period of time—less than two weeks! We hope everyone enjoys the fun atmosphere as much as we enjoyed creating it. We definitely learned some valuable lessons and have some more intricate and unique pop-up ideas we hope to execute. The whole bar is completely decked out to resemble a magical woodland with a twinkling night-sky light canopy overhead, hidden leprechauns, four-leaf clovers, a life-sized unicorn, a rainbow path leading patrons to a second bar and much more. Lucky’s Charm will also feature local DJs spinning festive tunes to seal the deal that this pop-up experience is worth more than a pot of gold.
Lucky’s Charm (117 S. 19th St.) is for ages 21 and up only and will run through Sunday, March 22. Hours will be Mondays through Fridays 5 to 10 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays noon to 11 p.m. Hours for Tuesday, March 17 for St. Patrick’s Day are noon to 11 p.m.
