Step back in time at Jazz Age on the Delaware

Feeling nostalgic for the days of flappers and dancing the Charleston? There’s a new summer pop-up in town with your name on it. On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., head to the 19th-century Glen Foerd mansion on the riverfront for Jazz Age on the Delaware. The 1920s-themed party gives you a glimpse into the most roaring decade, without any of that pesky Prohibition.

It might all sound a bit kitschy. But people who get into these things (see: Diner en Blanc) tend to go all out — and getting swept up in that is half the fun.

Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the event, with proceeds supporting the Glen Foerd. It’s a family-friendly day and kids under 12 get in free.

Eat and drink
Pack a basket and set up a picnic on the grounds by the water, or buy food from the onsite caterer, Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods and Catering. For libations, vendors will be selling vintage-style cocktails made with Art in the Age spirits and Hendrick’s Gin.

Play
Take a guided tour of the Glen Foerd mansion, check out antique cars parked out front for the occasion, and join in lawn games like croquet or badminton. Is your closet missing a drop-waist dress, cloche hat and long strand of pearls? Browse the vendor tables selling vintage clothes, jewelry, art and décor.

Dance
Keeping with the throwback theme, the musical lineup includes Philly’s Drew Nugent &the Midnight Society playing jazz, blues and pop — all from 1900 to 1934. The entertainment also includes the Red Hot Ramblers with Chelsea Reed, a 1920s jazz ensemble; the Gin Canaries featuring vocals, horns, guitar and banjo; the Minsky Sisters cabaret duo; the Old City Sweethearts dance troupe; and Dandy Wellington bringing the Big Band sound.
