Stepfather sought in sexual assault, beating

A family member is wanted for allegedly attacking a 13-year-oldgirl and her mother in their Frankford home.

Police say the suspect — identified as 39-year-old Malik Bailey — sexually assaulted his stepdaughter and brutally beat her mother early Tuesday on the 1900 block of Pratt Street.

Police responded around 12:30 a.m. after the teen escaped the home and ran to a neighbor’s house for help. The neighbors called 911.

The girlmet responding officers and told them she had been sexually assaulted in her basement.Bailey allegedly “entered her bedroom where she was sleeping, pulled her from her bed, dragged her to the basement and sexually assaulted her,” police said.

Shetold officers the suspect was still in the house when they arrived, but SWAT team officers did not find him upon entering the house.

Officers had knocked on the door, but were reportedly unable to gain entry. They climbed onto a front porch roof from an adjoining house, and saw the girl’s mother inside the homethrough a second-floor window.

The 38-year-old woman was bleeding from her face, with a large head wound, and was not moving, police said.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told media that the woman had been brutally attacked and had lost teeth. She was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. Authorities said her head injury was the result of “blunt force trauma.”

Police are currently searching for Bailey, the suspect in the assault and beating, and describe him as black, 6 feet tall and 175 pounds.
