Stephen Starr isn’t resting on his laurels following his big wins at the 2017 James Beard Awards. In late October, he’s opening a new restaurant called The Love (130 S. 18th St.) with Aimee Olexy of Talula’s Table, Talula’s Garden and Talula’s Daily.
Located at 18th and Sansom, The Love will be two levels and feature 100 seats, divided between a main dining area, outdoor seating and an upper-level loft with a communal table for 20 people. Pennsylvania native, Chef Joshua Tomaszewski, is creating the menu for this cozy neighborhood cafe, which is based on seasonal and local ingredients with a focus on American cuisine. Olexy’s beverage program of regional favorites will also accompany the food.
“I’m eager and excited to share healthy, seasonal cooking and heartfelt hospitality in the fabulous Rittenhouse Square neighborhood,” Olexy says of her new venture with Starr.
According to their website they are hiring all positions.
In a restaurant empire that includes locations in New York City, Atlantic City, Washington, D.C., Florida and of course, Philadelphia, this will be Starr’s 34th restaurant nationwide and seventh in the Rittenhouse neighborhood itself, following Parc, The Dandelion, Barclay Prime, Butcher & Singer, Continental Mid-Town and Alma de Cuba. According to Philly.com, Starr likes bringing his restaurants to Philadelphia because housing is close to work and affordable for employees.
