A pair of SEPTA-related stabbings left three people wounded over the weekend.
Authorities said a woman stabbed a man at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday as he entered 40th Street Station on the L, formerly known as the Market Frankford Line, in University City. She then confronted and stabbed a woman who was on the eastbound platform, SEPTA officials said.
Officers apprehended a suspect at the scene. The man was hospitalized in critical condition, while the female victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authority representatives.
On Sunday, just after 8 a.m., a man was stabbed in the head during a fight aboard the Route 55 bus in Elkins Park, officials said.
Cheltenham Township police said the incident happened as the bus was near the corner of Old York Road and Breyer Drive. Two suspects allegedly ran off; however, officers chased them down, arresting them in the area of Meetinghouse and Township Line roads, investigators said.
The victim was taken to a local medical center and is expected to survive, according to Cheltenham police.
Law enforcement has not publicly identified any of the suspects in either stabbing.
SEPTA Transit Police, in its most recent crime report, released in October, announced a 10% reduction in serious crimes for the third quarter of 2025.
