Three people were wounded in a pair of separate shootings that happened Saturday night into Sunday morning in North Philadelphia.

At around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 39-year-old man was shot in the abdomen on the 1000 block of Spring Garden Street, according to police. He was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition, authorities said.

Law enforcement officials believe the shooter, who was last spotted running east on Spring Garden, may have been a security guard at a local establishment. Police described him as a Black man between 20 and 30 years old with a tall, slim build.

Officers were called at around 10 p.m. Saturday to the corner of 18th and Norris Streets, just west of Temple University's main campus. Police said they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds on the 1900 block of N. 18th.

A 36-year-old man was shot in his stomach and buttocks, and a 49-year-old man was struck in the back, according to investigators. The PPD said both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital and are expected to survive.

Law enforcement said the suspect is a white man who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and green camouflage pants at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477). Details can be shared anonymously.

Through Oct. 3, 541 people had been shot in Philadelphia this year, down 28% compared to the same date last year, according to PPD data.
