Several members of the 2008 World Series-winning Phillies squad will roam the green outfield grass at Citizens Bank Park this summer during the 2026 All-Star Week festivities in Philadelphia. Phillies fans will get another chance to witness Ryan Howard’s powerful swat, Jimmy Rollins’ smooth swing, and Shane Victorino’s swift cut during the MLBx All-Star 3-on-3 competition, a fast-paced twist on the home run derby.
“MLBx is a fresh take on baseball that still highlights the skills fans love to see - power, defense, and big moments,” Rollins told MLB.com. “Doing it in Philadelphia with this group makes it even more exciting.”
Each Phillies legend will captain his own squad of three players in a four-team competition on July 12. A former Phillies rival will be announced at a later date as the captain of the fourth and final team. The remaining participants will also be announced at a later time.
“To be part of MLB All-Star Week is always special, but getting the chance to lead a team in my old home with this new event is going to be a lot of fun,” Howard said. “Phillies fans appreciate competition and entertainment, and that is what MLBx is.”
MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3 is a three-on-three, high-energy, co-ed home run derby with a hitter at the plate and three defenders deployed in the outfield. Points are scored for home runs, while opponents can claim points by making plays in the outfield during each two-minute at bat over a three-inning game. Additional points can be earned by hitting targets or calling for a “hot streak”, a five-swing time period where points count double for both sides. The team with the most points at the end of three innings will be declared the winner.
Tickets for All-Star Sunday, which include the All-Star Futures Game and MLBx, will go on sale on May 27 via AllStarGame.com. The MLB’s All-Star Week schedule is stuffed full of high-profile events, including the HBCU Swingman Classic, the 2026 MLB Draft, the MLB All-Star Futures Game, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, and the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
