Joining the likes of Joel Embiid, Zach Ertz, and a plethora of other Philadelphia sports figures, Sixers' power forward/center Al Horford has made a quite hefty donation to support people currently being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pledging sums of $500,000 US dollars to six different locations, Horford's donation will no doubt help those in need. An absolutely wonderful gesture from a player who has long been involved in charity work both in the US, and in his home country the Dominican Republic.

Horford selected six separate areas to receive donation sums, each one representing an area in which he played basketball at some point in time. DR: home country, Michigan: high school, Florida: college, Atlanta: Hawks, Boston: Celtics, and of course Philadelphia due to his current role with the 76ers.
Horford has been on the receiving end of quite a bit of criticism in 2019-2020 for his play as a Sixer. However, basketball aside for a moment, right now is not the time for comments like that. This is a fantastic show of support from Horford both to the Philadelphia community, and to the rest of the world.
Major props awarded to the 13 year pro.
Joel Embiid previously donated $500,000 to help cover for arena employees who were almost without pay. Ben Simmons also started up "The Philly Pledge", a donation campaign which has seen support from other Philadelphia athletes like Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins, Claude Giroux, and even members of the Sixers ownership team.
