Demonstrators gathered Thursday outside the headquarters of the Philadelphia Parking Authority at 8th and Arch streets, calling on the agency to terminate its contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The protest, organized by Philly Socialist Alternative, drew activists who said the agreement enables federal immigration enforcement activities in the city by allowing ICE agents to use PPA parking garages to store vehicles and equipment.
Speakers at the rally demanded that the parking authority cut ties with ICE. Demonstrators held signs and chanted outside the building’s entrance, calling for greater accountability.
