Eagles DT Jalen Carter fined for week 1 controversy, avoids suspension

Posted

After a nervy few days waiting for clarification on what the punishment is for Jalen Carter, Eagles fans finally got some relieving news on Tuesday afternoon. O.J Spivey reported that Carter would indeed not be suspended by the NFL for his altercation with Dak Prescott, before Adam Schefter built on that by stating that Carter would be fined $57,000 for the incident.

Carter was ejected from the Eagles' season-opener against Dallas before the game even got underway. The defensive tackle spat in the direction of the Dallas quarterback which immediately led to the controversial call, although later angles showed that Dak may well have initiated the incident with similar behavior. Regardless of the intent or who started it, Carter absolutely cannot afford to jeopardize the team and allow opponents a mental edge, knowing that if they rile him up, they can get some big advantages.

The fine is a relief for fans, who now know that going into week 2, Carter will be back on the field. Hopefully this is the last time we see anything like this from a player who is very much primed for a big payday due to his sheer dominance and explosive growth.

The Eagles will lock horns with the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday in week 2.
