Day four of Philadelphia Eagles training camp was moved inside the Jefferson Health Training Complex due to heavy rains and thunderstorms forecasted throughout the morning in Philadelphia.
While the weather forced a change of scenery, it did not slow the Eagles or their ability to prepare for the 2026 season.
Monday’s practice was another important day for the offense to continue installing new elements of their scheme, for the defense to build on their chemistry, and to evaluate key positional battles as the team gets closer to the regular season.
But the offensive side was the star today!
The focus of the offense today was to review what they learned from the previous install meeting two days ago, and they wasted little time getting started.
Jalen Hurts came out with three passes to DeVonta Wicks, DeVonta Smith, and Elijah Moore. Setting the tone of the practice with their most aggressive and successful series of camp.
The aggression later came at a cost in 7-on-7 drills when Quinyon Mitchell had a pick-six, something the Birds would love to see out of Q during the season. The Eagles defensive backfield is living up to their “No PHLY Zone” nickname early. There seemed to be more of a miscommunication with the receiver than a mistake by QB1, but it is great to see Mitchell capitalizing on the moment.
The turnover was one of the few hiccups on the offensive side of the ball.
The Eagles' offensive success in the red zone came to fruition, hopefully quieting much of the negativity some had about that side of the ball's success thus far in camp.
Hurts had a one-yard TD pass to Smitty out of the shotgun formation, and followed that up with a 2-point conversion, beating Riq Wooleon.
Jalen also completed a touchdown pass to Elijah Moore from about 30 yards out.
Jalen Hurts and the offense celebrated a QB1 rushing touchdown from about 10 yards out in 11-on-11 with a new dance. Hurts is not allowed to be tackled on the field, but nobody was near to make a play.
Jalen Hurts appeared animated with joy after delivering one of his best throws of the summer.
QB1 fired a tight-window pass over the middle to Elijah Moore, hitting him on the move for a big gain. Hurts looks confident in the new passing concepts, and throws like that will make Philadelphia’s offense a major problem for opposing defenses moving forward.
Epensa has taken every opportunity to show he belongs on the Eagles roster. He has worked with the 2nd team coming off the right edge, and whatever issues he had physically seem resolved. He has looked strong and quick.
Uar Bernard has a huge fan in Clint Hurtt, and you can see why. He has an infectious personality and is a very dedicated learner. I’m excited to see his trajectory over the next 2 seasons. This was the first time the Nigerian has been in full pads, and he is an imposing man!
He also had his first "camp sack" today.
Jalyx Hunt continues to impress in camp and looks to be a true Edge-1, but Nolan Smith Jr. will not fade quietly into the night.
Once Jonathan Greenard returns, I would expect the snap count between Jalyx and Nolan to be 55% to 45% during the season, more a split than a true starter-and-reserve role.
Moro has carved out a real role on the Eagles’ defensive front that is becoming impactful. His motor and leverage show up snap after snap, and he’s starting to turn pressures into disruption. He also did a mock celly with the defensive line after ending a Tank Bigsby carry at the LOS.
He gets into the backfield often and is on the verge of a very big payday!
WR Darius Cooper is impressing early in camp, much like he did in 2025. Health has been his biggest obstacle thus far in his young career. If the Eagles keep five receivers, he clearly has the edge after a week of camp. He had a nice grab working against Riq.
Eagles WR Elijah Moore was back, LB Jihaad Campbell returned, and OL Cameron Williams also returned. Interior linemen Micah Morris and Jaeden Roberts were not practicing. Jaeden suffered what appeared to be a serious lower leg injury; the Eagles have not released an update on his status as of this writing.
Lane Johnson was not here today, but he was excused for non-injury-related reasons on Saturday, and that may be the case today, too.
On the defensive side, S Cole Wisniewski and Edge Keyshawn James-Newby did not either.
Lemon was seen in practice, but did not appear to practice in team drills.
Head Coach Nick Sirianni spoke prior to practice and hit home one of the points he preaches every year: “Are we getting better at the little things?” And the focus of that is apparent in their drills and message in the building, including ball security and takeaways. Sirianni often emphasizes ‘To be great in the little things that take no talent,’ and the Eagles players have responded to the message. Today's practice was a step in the right direction.
As always, thank you for reading!
