The Eagles were back on the practice field Monday for their ninth training camp practice as preparations for the 2026 season continued. Former Eagles stars Rodney McLeod and Michael Vick were on hand to take in the sights and sounds as the defense looks as dangerous as it has in years, and the offense continues to work through new installations and build toward the preseason.
Here are the biggest observations from the 95-minute practice on Monday, Aug. 10, at Eagles training camp.
Darius Cooper has been one of the more impressive players all camp, and today was no different. He made back-to-back grabs working against Riq Woolen, and later hauled in a pass versus Cooper DeJean.
Cooper’s chemistry with Jalen Hurts is strong and continues to build. He is very close to locking up a spot on the 53-man roster.
When the Eagles drafted Stowers, they knew the hands were ready, but that there would be a developmental curve.
His blocking and gaining strength will be a work in progress, but his hands, speed, and vertical threat are NFL-ready.
The defensive backs have been brilliant all camp.
Riq, Epps, Quinyon, Cooper, and Mukuba have all been standing out, but Mitchell has added the only part of his game that was lacking.
He is not only forcing pass breakups, but now he is coming away with the ball via interceptions. If this continues to the regular season, the defense could be at its most dangerous of the Fangio era.
Elijah Moore was on the field taking part in punt returns.
He has made some noise in camp with his receiving ability due ot the extra reps with DeVonta and Makai out due to injury, but he heavily increases his odds of making the roster by adding to the special teams.
Ty Robinson took notice of the DT signing and came out with a strong performance today. The second-year tackle could be battling for a roster spot.
Both DeVonta Smith and Makai Lemon are still not participating. An additional receiver, Johnny Wilson, was also out today. Wilson had been very productive the last few practices, and the hope is he returns soon as he reportedly deals with a knee issue.
Danny Gray, Keyshawn James-Newby, Jonathan Jones, Dameon Pierce, and Cole Wisniewski were also out and unable to participate in today’s practice.
One concern of note to watch.
Training camp has brought attention to a few underdogs fighting for a roster spot, Willie Lampkin, Darius Cooper, etc., and also assuaged some fears regarding the health of Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens as they come back from off-season procedures.
For a team that builds from the trenches out, the Eagles seem to be in good hands as camp progresses on both sides of the lines. Jalen Carter was also ranked 29th in the NFL top 100 list while practice was taking place.
Philadelphia continues to shake up the roster, with transactions occurring almost daily.
