Thursday night at MetLife Stadium promises a game that will be highly scrutinized, especially for the Eagles' offense. The Birds are coming off a short week, with prime-time lights, and facing a division rival. Philadelphia knows that this isn’t just a game. Every detail matters, and the Eagles are intent on leaving New Jersey with a win and making a statement on both sides of the ball after a huge letdown on Sunday versus Denver.
Who: Eagles vs. GiantsWhen: Thu, Oct. 10th, 8:15 PM ESTWhere: MetLife StadiumHow: Amazon Prime
Offense

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles enter on a mission. Hurts thrives when he can dictate rhythm with his legs and arms. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will need to provide the explosive big plays. Dallas Goedert’s versatility keeps linebackers guessing, and he has been a huge part of their success so far this season. Expect the Eagles to try to set the tone in the run game early, especially considering this is Saquon’s old stomping grounds. If they can get the o-line to produce some creases, Barkley and the ground game will be respected, and Hurts can exploit mismatches downfield.
The Giants’ defense has talent, but they’ve struggled to contain dual-threat quarterbacks. If Philadelphia can maintain clean pockets, Hurts should have the same kind of freedom that has made him the league’s most dangerous weapon in big moments. A lot will ride on the offensive line, and whoever the backup OL gets the start for Landon Dickerson.
Defense

Vic Fangio’s unit will focus on communication, deception, and discipline. New York’s offense can stretch the field, but the key is eliminating the explosive plays. A Vic Fangio special.
The Eagles should be able to make the Giants' rookie QB, Jaxson Dart, earn every yard and befuddle him with their last-minute looks. But that is not to say that the Eagles’ DC is taking Jaxson lightly.
“I like him. Another mobile quarterback. I think he’s got that air about him to be a quarterback. I think he’s confident in his abilities and in their offense. Got the gun run game to contend with. They’ll run quarterback draws, quarterback designed runs. He’s good. I think they got themselves a quarterback.”
The Giants also have a running threat in rookie Cameron Skattebo. He has rushed for 240 yards over five games and two starts, and added another 143 via the air. He is powerful, and the defense will need to make sure they make solid tackles to bring him down.
Prediction: Eagles 28, Giants 17
Thursday night games are always a test, but Philadelphia should be able to lean on Barkley’s downhill running (if he is healthy) and Hurts’ dual-threat ability, something they have gone away from to begin the season. Discipline and execution will decide the game more than heroics, and the Eagles know it. The players have had talks to finalize all the details this week; it is now time to showcase what they are capable of on the field.
Side note, leaving MetLife healthy is always a worry, as the field has already taken the Giants' star receiver Malik Nabers with a torn ACL earlier this year.
Player of the Game: Jalen Hurts. Expect a big night both on the ground and through the air, setting the tone for another statement win on the road.
