The Philadelphia Flyers announced Wednesday that legends Bob Kelly and Simon Gagne will be inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame. The team will host a special pregame ceremony on Saturday, February 27, ahead of the Hall of Fame Game.
Kelly and Gagne both played for the team for over 10 seasons.
Kelly played from 1970-1980, recording 296 points in 741 games.
"This is truly something I never thought possible, and to be recognized this way by the organization is one of the highest honors of my life,” Kelly told the Flyers. "To have my name alongside so many great players and people who have helped shape the Philadelphia Flyers means more than I can put into words. Philly is more than just my home. Over the years, my teammates, colleagues, and the fans I've been fortunate to meet and teach the game of hockey have become like family. I am deeply grateful to the Flyers organization and this city for their unwavering support throughout what has been an unforgettable journey."
Gagne played for the team from 1999-2010, and also in the 2012-13 season. He totaled 535 points in 691 games with the Flyers.
“Being inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame is such an honor and something I never imagined when I first came to Philadelphia as a young man,” Gagne told the Flyers. “The Flyers and the city were such an important part of my career and life. I’m incredibly grateful for the teammates, coaches, staff, and fans who made my time here so special and created some of the most memorable moments in my hockey career. To have the opportunity to join the legends who came before me is something I’m extremely proud of, and wearing the Orange and Black will always hold a special place in my heart.”
The two will become the 29th and 30th members of the Flyers Hall of Fame, and the first inducted since Mark Recchi on January 27, 2024.
