The Philadelphia Flyers are adding some experience to their forward group, signing Michael Bunting to a one-year, $1.2 million contract for the 2026-27 season, General Manager Daniel Briere announced.
The move comes as the Flyers look for a spark offensively after a rough start to the season going 0-2-2. Philadelphia has struggled to consistently generate shots and scoring chances, while the power play has also been an issue.
Bunting, 31, has 252 points (109 goals, 143 assists) in 418 career NHL games. He spent last season with the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars, finishing with 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) in 74 games.
Bunting's best NHL season came in 2021-22 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, when he recorded 63 points in 79 games and finished as a Calder Trophy finalist. He also brings playoff experience, appearing in 14 career postseason games with Toronto and Dallas.
It's worth noting that Bunting briefly played under Rick Tocchet, so there is some familiarity there.
For a Flyers team searching for more offense and consistency, Bunting gives Philadelphia another veteran option who has proven he can contribute in the NHL.
