Flyers gain fifth regulation win in exciting fashion over New Jersey Devils

Posted

The Philadelphia Flyers found themselves in a high-scoring matchup against the New Jersey Devils, ultimately skating away with a 6–3 victory. Dan Vladar earned the start for Philadelphia, while veteran netminder Jake Allen took the crease for New Jersey.

The Devils struck first when Timo Meier buried a shot midway through the opening period, giving New Jersey a 1–0 lead. The Flyers responded shortly after, as Noah Cates tied the game, with Egor Zamula recording an assist on the play for his second point of the season.

Once the game was tied, the momentum flipped instantly. Philadelphia erupted for three goals in rapid succession, stunning the Devils and seizing complete control. Matvei Michkov tallied once while Tyson Foerster scored twice, sending the Flyers into the first intermission with a commanding 4–1 advantage.

Despite the rough showing from Allen, New Jersey opted to keep him in net rather than making a goaltending change.

The second period lacked the firepower of the opening frame, as both teams seemed to dial back their pace. However, Bobby Brink powered home a hard shot to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 5–1. New Jersey did find a spark late in the period when Nico Hischier scored, narrowing the gap to three goals heading into the final 20 minutes.

In the third, the Devils pushed hard, using their speed to maintain extended time in the Flyers’ defensive zone. Their biggest obstacle was Vladar, who stood tall and repeatedly denied quality scoring chances. His size and movement made wrap-around attempts nearly impossible, something New Jersey continued to try without success. Hischier later struck again, making it a 5–3 game and injecting some late pressure.

However, any nerves were settled when Trevor Zegras scored late in regulation, restoring the three-goal cushion. The final horn sounded on a 6–3 Flyers victory, giving Philadelphia its fifth regulation win of the season and a strong statement in a divisional matchup.
