Breaking: Flyers sign Trevor Zegras to four-year extension

Posted

The Philadelphia Flyers have secured Trevor Zegras for the long term, signing the forward to a four-year contract extension worth an average annual value of $9.125 million.

General manager Daniel Briere said the team believes Zegras can be an important part of the Flyers' future after seeing him take another step forward this past season.

Zegras is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, setting personal bests in goals and points while becoming one of Philadelphia's top offensive contributors. He finished the season near the top of the team's scoring leaders and continued to make an impact during the playoffs.

The 25-year-old forward was originally drafted ninth overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2019 and has built a reputation as one of the NHL's most creative offensive players. With his playmaking ability and offensive upside, the Flyers are hoping Zegras can remain a key part of their core as they continue building toward contention.

This extension gives Philadelphia stability with one of its most talented forwards while showing the organization believes Zegras can be a difference-maker for years to come.
