Business Spotlight: Georgian Bread celebrates 10 years of family, tradition and flavor in Philadelphia

Posted

What began as a mother’s dream to share her culinary heritage has blossomed into a decade-long staple in the local food scene as Georgian Bread celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

The idea took root in 2014 when Imeda Londaridze’s mother envisioned opening a Georgian restaurant. The family united to turn that dream into reality, opening their doors in 2016 to bring a Georgian restaurant, bakery and market together under one roof in Philadelphia.

The response was immediate and overwhelming. Customers poured in, and the restaurant remained heavily booked for its first several months. Imeda, his wife, Ani, his mother, father and brother worked tirelessly day and night to keep up with growing orders.

Over the next 10 years, they adapted to the fast pace of Philadelphia while staying true to their Georgian roots.

They never expected the immense attention the eatery would receive.

Georgian Bread has been featured on television, in newspapers and across online publications. The restaurant’s success even drew journalists traveling from Georgia to tell their story. Over the years, the family has welcomed many notable guests, including former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

“These 10 years are more than a business milestone for us,” Londaridze said. “They represent a chapter of Georgian history that our family has written here in Philadelphia.”

As part of their commitment to the community, Georgian Bread proudly offers a 15% discount to military service members and police officers year-round as a small expression of gratitude and respect.

“As we celebrate our first 10 years, we are grateful to Philadelphia for embracing our family, our food and our culture,” Londaridze said. “We look forward to continuing this story for many years to come.”
