Here’s some fun news to start your Easter Weekend! Jalen Hurts is among several Eagles changing their jersey numbers for the 2021 season, per an official release from the team.

You know what that means. It’s time for some super in-depth analysis!
Jalen Hurts
New number 1
Power. Move. Going from QB2 to QB1 justifies an alpha decision and this is as good as it gets...unless the Eagles do somehow find a way to mess this up and draft a QB...that would be awkward.
Khalil Tate
New number: 6
A former roommate of Jalen Hurts and a former signal caller himself, Tate made the transition from pass-thrower to pass-catcher when catching on with the Eagles, following in the footsteps of Greg Ward Jr.
Joe Flacco
New number 7
The disrespect to Sammy Sleeves is immeasurable and I will make no further comment on this matter. Abysmal. Shocking. As soon as I finish this, I’m making a petition that I expect you all to sign.
Arryn Siposs
New Number: 8
As far as numbers for a punter goes, this is a pretty solid choice, but Cameron Johnston will always be #1 in our hearts so I’m glad Arryn has given us the jersey equivalent of ‘I’m not trying to be him or replace him’.
Quez Watkins
New number: 16
I’m not a fan of this. The last wideout to wear #80 was Jordan Matthews. The last wideouts to wear #16 were Deontay Burnett and Mack Hollins. But a man can change his stars.
Andrew Adams
New number: 21
21 is my favorite number and has most recently been worn by Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills. Adams is a depth signing who may carve out a strong special teams role and hopefully break the curse of my beloved number being tarnished with finger wags and missed tackles.
Anthony Harris
New Number: 28
Harris wore #41 in Minnesota and I think any number in the 20’s can constitute a firm upgrade. Will Parks wore the same number during his brief Philadelphia stint and before him, Earl Wolff was the last to don it defensively.
Craig James
New Number: 31
#31 is definitely among my favorite cornerback numbers and I really don’t know why. King Craig James picking this up from the clutches of Nickell Robey-Coleman, Jalen Mills, and Byron Maxwell, will hopefully restore some of the former glory that has been washed away in recent times. By that I mean I hope he won’t be a pain to watch and continue to rise up as one of the more exciting underdogs on the roster.
Shakial Taylor
New number: 36
A new arrival to the roster, Taylor gets handed a number that says ‘I exist’. Cool?
Tyree Jackson
New number: 80
Any TE with a number outside of the 80’s is a cause for concern, but Jackson picks up a very ‘wide receiver’ number here...which for a former QB just makes me feel queasy because that’s just too much going on.
Javon Hargrave
New number: 97
Malik Jackson is about to listen to ‘somebody else’ by The 1975. Javon Hargrave, you’re a cold-hearted man.
