James Harden fined $100k by NBA for 'liar' comments

Posted

The NBA has announced that it has fined Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden $100k for recent comments made where he referred to Sixers president Daryl Morey as a "liar." After launching an investigation last Saturday, the league determined that, as Harden's comments from Aug. 14 and Aug. 17 indicated he would not honor his contract unless he were traded to another team, he violated the league's policy on public discussion of a trade demand.

Harden has made it clear since he picked up his player option that he has no plans on playing for the Sixers next season and would only honor his contract if he were traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Sixers have stood firm in stating that they would only accept a deal that either kept the team competitive or would make them even more competitive than they are with Harden.

There has been no public response yet from the disgruntled point guard's camp, but given his recent successful wine venture, it's likely James Harden is ready to pay any and all fines the league wants to throw his way.
