Joel Embiid has been cleared to play as the Sixers prepare for a pivotal matchup in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics. The team announced the update shortly before tip-off, after Embiid completed an evaluation with the team’s medical staff and his typical pregame warmup.
Embiid was initially listed as doubtful, as he was for Game 3 before he was eventually ruled out. Head Coach Nick Nurse had previously confirmed that Embiid had taken part in some on-court workouts dating back to the team’s Thursday morning practice. In his pregame media availability, Nurse said he was unsure whether there would be a minute restriction.
The Sixers are looking to even the series after falling in Game 3. With Embiid along for the ride, their odds have certainly improved. All that’s left is to see what kind of impact Embiid can have as the Sixers look to secure a major upset in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
