Embiid has not appeared in a game since Feb. 28 due to a right oblique strain and played in just four games since the NBA trade deadline.

Ahead of the Sixers’ Saturday matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, head coach Nick Nurse provided an update on Joel Embiid’s injury recovery, including a potential return timeline in the near future.

According to Nurse, Embiid participated in an individualized on-court workout, but hasn’t taken part in any team workouts as of yet. Nurse also said that he doesn’t “want to anticipate anything” when it comes to a return date, but he did say that a return during the team’s upcoming road trip is a possibility.

After Saturday afternoon’s game against the Nets and Sunday's matchup against Portland, the team will travel West, where they will face the Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz before returning home for Jared McCain’s return to Philadelphia as the Oklahoma City Thunder come to town.

Embiid has played in just 33 of the team’s 66 games and will miss both of the home games on the team’s current back-to-back. With Nurse being as non-committal as he was in his answer, the potential for Embiid to miss the upcoming road trip and even beyond remains a possibility.

More updates are surely to come, not just on Embiid but also on Tyrese Maxey, who remains out for more than two more weeks, and on Kelly Oubre and Paul George, who could both return for the Sixers' March 25th game against the Chicago Bulls.
