Construction is set to begin Monday on a series of accessibility and infrastructure improvements in Logan Square Park, city officials announced.
The project, led by the Philadelphia Streets Department, will require significant sidewalk and traffic restrictions around Logan Circle starting Dec. 1, and continuing through spring 2026.
During the work, sidewalks around Logan Circle — including pedestrian access to Swann Fountain — will be closed. Several travel lanes will also be shut down for the duration of construction, including the innermost lane around Logan Circle, the left inbound lane of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and the left lane of 19th Street (north of the Circle).
The project focuses on reconstructing Logan Square’s 15-foot-wide outer sidewalks and upgrading curb ramps to meet current ADA standards. Plans also call for replacing existing concrete curbs with granite and rebuilding drainage inlets throughout the Circle.
Logan Square, a historic Center City park that draws thousands of visitors annually, is expecting to see increased foot traffic leading up to major events in 2026.
City officials are urging drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to use caution near the construction zone, obey posted detours, and reduce speeds when traveling through work areas.
