Posted

A 19-year-old man was killed in a shootout that reportedly occurred outside a house party late Sunday night in North Philadelphia.

Officers responded at around 11:15 p.m. to a report of shots on 16th Street, near Cecil B. Moore Avenue, police said. They found no victims but spotted multiple fired shell casings in the area, according to law enforcement officials.

Meanwhile, a U-Haul truck dropped off 19-year-old Hyvear Zayzohn Tookes at Temple University Hospital, where he died a short time later, the PPD stated. Police found several other teenagers inside the truck.

PPD commanders told camera crews at the scene that they believe the group inside the U-Haul was engaged in a firefight with individuals outside a gathering on 16th Street.

No one has been charged, as of Monday. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
