A 39-year-old man was gunned down Monday evening in South Philadelphia, police said.
Authorities said the man, identified Tuesday as Eastwick resident Rasheen McKie, was shot at around 5:15 p.m. on the 700 block of Oregon Avenue. Officers took him to Jefferson University Hospital, where he died at around 5:45 p.m., according to the PPD.
Multiple media outlets reported that McKie was leaving a bar with another person when the shots were fired. No one else was injured by the gunfire.
No arrests had been made when Metro went to print Tuesday, and law enforcement officials have not commented on a possible motive.

Through Oct. 20, 187 people had been murdered in Philadelphia this year, down 10% compared to the same date in 2024, according to PPD data.
