A man was stabbed to death early Monday morning in West Philadelphia, police said.

Officers were called just before 1 a.m. to the 4800 block of Sansom Street, where they found 28-year-old Cordell F. Jones lying on the street with multiple stab wounds, authorities said. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries a short time later, according to the PPD.

Law enforcement officials said they believe the stabbing stemmed from an argument, though they did not release any further details.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the killing. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Through July 26, 96 people had been murdered in Philadelphia, a decrease of nearly 26% compared to the same date last year, according to PPD data.
