As the Philadelphia 76ers travel to Chicago for a matchup against the Bulls, the latest updated injury report has revealed that Jared McCain is perhaps ready to make his season debut.
Shortly before the release of the 6:30 p.m. EST injury report, ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reported that McCain was expected to be listed as probable for the matchup. A few minutes later, he would be proven correct.
Things have gone well for the Sixers early this season after a 5-1 start to the year. So well that it’s almost easy to forget Jared McCain and Paul George have yet to make their season debuts. If all continues to go right, that will no longer be true for McCain.
The second-year guard out of Duke has not played since Dec. 13 of last year, when he tore the meniscus in his left knee. McCain was shut down for the remainder of the season and had hoped to be ready for the start of the season, but suffered a tear in the UCL in his right thumb during the team's OTAs held in September.
On a less positive note, George (knee) was confirmed to be OUT for the game, as is forward Dominick Barlow, who continues to recover from a cut he suffered on his elbow against the Charlotte Hornets. An update on Barlow is expected to come in the coming days.
Also notable on the report was the absence of Joel Embiid (injury management) and Kelly Oubre, who appeared to tweak his ankle against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, missing the remainder of the game after the injury.
According to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice, Embiid’s absence against the Nets was planned and part of how the team is managing his continued return, rather than a reaction to any new developments with his knee.
The Sixers and Bulls tip off in Chicago tomorrow night at 8 p.m. EST.
