MLS Matchday 33 preview: More playoff spots can be clinched on Saturday

Posted

MLS Matchday 32 last weekend was a small one with just four matches being played because of the International Break.

Matchday 33 is set for this weekend, and four clubs have an opportunity to clinch berths in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs. Decision Day is on Oct. 18, and every game matters more now than ever for clubs in the playoff hunt. Only the Philadelphia Union, San Diego FC, and Minnesota United have clinched playoff berths so far.

FC Cincinnati will clinch an MLS playoff berth if:

Cincinnati win vs. Nashville or…New York lose at Portland or…Cincinnati draw vs. Nashville AND New York draw at Portland.

Charlotte FC will clinch an MLS playoff berth if:

Charlotte win vs. Miami AND New York lose/draw at Portland

Nashville SC can clinch an MLS playoff berth if:

Nashville win at Cincinnati AND New York lose/draw at Portland

Vancouver Whitecaps can clinch an MLS playoff berth if:

Vancouver win/draw vs. Philadelphia or…San Jose lose/draw vs. LAFC or…Salt Lake lose/draw vs. Kansas City or…Colorado lose vs. Houston
