A woman and her baby were hospitalized after someone opened fire early Sunday morning inside a West Philadelphia home, authorities said.

Officers responded just after 4 a.m. to the scene, on the 1500 block of N. Robinson Street in the Carroll Park neighborhood, according to police.

The adult woman was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, investigators said. The infant – described as a girl less than a year old – was shot in the leg and was listed in stable condition at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the PPD stated.

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, and authorities have not provided any more details about the circumstances of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Through Dec. 20, 889 people had been shot this year in Philadelphia, down nearly 16% compared to the same date in 2024, according to PPD data.
