Music Theatre Philly summer camps help kids shine on stage

Posted

At Music Theatre Philly, summer is a chance for young performers to step into the spotlight and discover what they’re capable of.

Led by professional actors, dancers, directors, and choreographers, MTP’s Summer 2026 camps explore popular musicals and movie themes each week inside of studios in Center City. Meant for all skill levels (no previous experience required),  as MTP says, these camps offer an encouraging, skill-building environment where creativity and confidence grow side by side.

Families can choose between two K–6 camp formats this year: The one-week Musical Revue Camp, for example, is a deep dive into songs, dances, and short scenes inspired by beloved movies and musicals. With this option, campers rehearse daily with teaching artists and wrap up the week with a live performance, which will be professionally recorded and emailed to families for a keepsake.

There’s also the two-week Junior Musical Camp, which guides students through the full production process—from auditions and rehearsals to designing their own sets and costumes. This pick will also culminate in a Friday performance at the end of the session.

Or, younger performers can join the Pre-K Camp (ages 3–5), a half-day experience designed to “nurture imagination and early performance skills in a supportive setting.” Pre-K runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon ($350 per week), while K–6 camps run 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($575 for the one-week revue; $1,035 for the two-week junior musical, reflecting an automatic 10% discount). Tuition includes scripts, music, and craft materials.

Extended care options are also available with Morning care (8 to 9 a.m.) running for $20 per day or $75 per week. After care, on the other hand, is offered from noon to 3 p.m. for Pre-K and 3 to 5 p.m. for K–6 campers ($40 per day or $120 per week). Campers can unwind with board games, coloring, and G-rated movies after a full day of singing, dancing, and acting.  K–6 after care is not available on Fridays, and all pickups must occur by 5:30 p.m.

MTP strives to make camp accessible and welcoming for every family: Sibling discounts are available (25% off tuition for a second child and 50% off for additional children), plus, payment plans and scholarships are also offered. Families are additionally encouraged to reach out to discuss accessibility needs or accommodations.

A note from MTP: With a nut-free facility, clear cancellation policies, and detailed pre-camp communication, Music Theatre Philly wants to ensure parents feel informed and confident while campers focus on what matters most—making theatre together.
