According to Tom Pelissero, the Philadelphia Eagles are set to lose DB Coach Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys. Parker will be joining Philly's NFC East rival as their new Defensive Coordinator.
This is a pretty sizable loss for the Birds. Parker spent the last two seasons as the Eagles' defensive backs coach and pass-game coordinator, working under Vic Fangio and helping to form a formidable secondary.
Under his tutelage, both Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell exploded onto the scene as rookies and helped propel the team to a Super Bowl win. That season, the Eagles' defense led the league in passing yards per game allowed, and third in opposing passer rating. One year later, and while the offense was shaky, it was the defense that once again dominated throughout the regular season.
Losing Parker is a tough pill to swallow, but losing him to an NFC East rival is so much worse. Having studied the ins and outs of Fangio's playbook and coaching style, he's a very valuable asset for a Cowboys team in desperate search of a new identity following the shocking departure of Micah Parsons earlier this year.
The Eagles were already looking to hire an Offensive Coordinator, and will now have another position to fill as the offseason draws near.
