A man was killed and two others were wounded in a pair of separate shootings Wednesday morning in Philadelphia.
Police said a 29-year-old man was shot multiple times just before 10 a.m. on the 600 block of E. Thayer Street in Kensington. Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to the PPD.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victim or provided any additional information about the homicide.
Earlier, just after 6:45 a.m., two adult men were struck when gunfire erupted on the 600 block of W. Tusculum Street in North Philadelphia, less than a mile and a half away from the later shooting.
Officers took one of the victims to Temple University Hospital, and the other later arrived at the same medical center in a private vehicle, investigators added. Both were listed in critical condition, law enforcement officials said. Police have not released any details about the circumstances of the shooting.
The PPD did not report any arrests in the immediate aftermath of either incident. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Through May 26, 54 people had been murdered in Philadelphia, a 41% decrease compared to the same date last year, according to police data. The number of shooting victims is also down about 38%.
