PHILADELPHIA-- At the conclusion of each minor league season, the Philadelphia Phillies honor players, coaches, and front office staff by giving out annual awards.
Named after legends of the club's history, these internal honors help shape the future while honoring the past.
Paul Owens Award - Otto Kemp/Griff McGarry
The Paul Owens award is given every season by the Phillies to two players, a pitcher and a position player.
The award is given to the best player in the minor leagues. This season, Otto Kemp was named the position player. Spending time with the Phillies this season, Kemp lit up Triple-A in two stints during 2025.
Kemp hit 16 home runs, drove in 67 RBIs, and held a .987 OPS in 74 games this season.
On the mound, Griff McGarry took home the 2025 nomination for the award. Pitching in A, AA, and AAA this season, McGarry pitched to a 3.44 earned run average across 83.2 innings. He dealt with some time on the Injured List, but was able to overcome the injury and return to form.
The honor is named after Paul "The Pope" Owens, the general manager of the 1980 World Series team. Owens joined the organization in 1958, where he was a minor league manager, scout, farm director, general manager, and manager.
Owens led the Phillies as the club's manager in 1983, helping them win a National League pennant, before losing in the World Series to the Baltimore Orioles. After being let go in 1984, Owens returned to the franchise as a senior advisor for the remainder of his life.
Previous winners of the honor include Justin Crawford, Andrew Painter, Bryson Stott, Aaron Nola, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and Cole Hamels.
John Vukovich Award - Al Pedrique
Since 2007, the Phillies have honored skippers in the minor leagues with the John Vukovich award.
The Phillies give this honor to a manager within all ranks of the organization. The award is meant to highlight someone who is passionate and possesses the ability to grow young ballplayers. This award is named, of course, after John Vukovich, who had two stints in Philadelphia as a player.
Vukovich then became a member of the coaching staff, working with the Phillies from 1988 to 2004.
This year, the honor was given to Al Pedrique, the current manager of the Reading Fightin Phils. Pedrique is a well-experienced baseball lifter who has been with several organizations as a player and coach.
“I am deeply honored to receive the John Vukovich Award,” said Pedrique. “This recognition represents the collective effort and commitment of the entire organization. It is a privilege to be part of this team.”

Dallas Green Award - Tommy Field
The Dallas Green Award is another annual prize awarded to a member of the franchise.
Named after former manager and 1980 World Series champion Dallas Green, the Phillies nominate this award to an amateur or professional scout who highlights the Phillies' organizational standards in the field.
Green was a former big league pitcher, pitching six seasons for the Phillies from 1960 to 1964 and 1967. He joined the Phillies front office in 1970 as an assistant to then farm director Paul Owens.
Green became the manager of the Phillies in 1979, where he ran the team from 1979 to 1981. He would later become the manager of the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
The 2025 recipient is Tommy Field. Field joined the organization as an area scout in 2019, and he oversaw the Phillies' selection of first-round pick Gage Wood.
“I was told by a tenured staff member that Dallas frequently said, ‘Put the organization first’ when making an important decision in the draft room, which to me speaks volumes to the type of man he was on a day-to-day basis,” Field said. “I am truly humbled and honored to receive this award and to have it associated with such an influential name in the baseball scouting community.”
