After a bad opening series against the Rangers and a tightly contested series against the Nationals, the Philadelphia Phillies needed their bats to wake up against the Colorado Rockies. The bats didn't just wake up. They sprang to life with a joie de vivre seldom seen in Philadelphia.
On the mound, Michael Lorenzen, the last Phillie to throw a no-hitter, secured the loss before his team had a chance to hit. The Phillies wasted no time, loading the bases for Alec Bohm. Bohm drove in the first two runs of the game with a line drive single to center.
Bryson Stott doubled for run number three. Brandon Marsh then hit the longest home run in his career at 454 ft. His previous career-long homer was 449 ft in 2022.
After a JT Realmuto double, Trea Turner logged his second hit of the inning to make it 7-0 after the top of the first.
The Phils added another run in the second on Bryce Harper's second homer of the season. With Lorenzen still on the mound in the third, Alec Bohm added another RBI single to his ledger.
Bellozo replaced Lorenzen in the fourth. In the fifth, Kyle Schwarber hit his third homer of the season 460 feet to make it 10-1.
Aaron Nola was superb, toeing the rubber for the Phillies. His curveball looked sharp and he dominated the Rockies' lineup. He struck out nine over 6.1 IP. He allowed one run on five hits and a walk.
Nola generated 14 swings and misses and topped out at 93.3 MPH with his fastball. The quality start was very welcome for Nola, who posted a 6.01 ERA in an injury-shortened 2025.
The combination of Kyle Backhus, Tim Mayza and Zach Pop kept the Rockies quiet out of the bullpen. The trio didn't allow a hit and struck out six Rockies. Pop struck out three on his own.
With the 10-1 win, the Phillies move to 4-3. They are back over .500 for the first time since Opening Day.
