The Philadelphia Phillies announced Chase Utley will be the newest member of the 2026 Toyota Wall-of-Fame inductee. Phillies owner John Middleton sat alongside the 2008 World Series Champion in Clearwater, Florida, Thursday for the official reveal of the 51st member of the Phillies wall. Utley is scheduled to be honored on Aug. 7 during Alumni Weekend.

“This is one of the two highest honors the Phillies organization can bestow on one of its players,” Middleton said. “From 2007 through 2011, the Phillies set the standard for excellence in Major League Baseball. Those teams won five consecutive National League East titles, back-to-back National League pennants, and, of course, the 2008 World Series. Chase established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of the Phillies. He is among the career leaders in games played, hits, home runs, RBIs, and runs scored. His records are a testament not just to his innate talent, but to his character.”

Utley was an irreplaceable player during the Phillies’ rise to prominence alongside Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, and Cole Hamels (among many others). During the Phillies 2008 World Series chase, his game-changing defensive play in Game 5 kept the game tied.

That play set the table for Pedro Feliz’s title-clinching hit in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-3 lead on the way to Philadelphia’s second World Series Championship.  Of course, Phillies fans will never forget his epic speech in the middle of Citizens Bank Park during the victory parade.

Utley had an even better postseason in 2009 as he powered the Phillies to a six-game series as the New York Yankees denied Philadelphia’s quest for consecutive baseball titles. His postseason five home runs during the 2009 World Series tied baseball legend Reggie Jackson for the most round-trippers in a single World Series.

“We had, obviously, some amazing players and some amazing people,” Utley said during his late-morning press conference as he shared his honor with his teammates. “I think that was the true reason we were successful.”

Utley had the honor of pulling the curtain to reveal Jimmy Rollins’ plaque on the Phillies Wall of Fame last August. Later this summer, he will have the honor of watching his number 26 unveiled on that same red brick wall in South Philadelphia.
