According to ESPN insider Jeff Passan, the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired outfielder Derek Hill from the Chicago White Sox.

In the deal, the Phillies are also receiving international bonus pool money. The amount is yet to be announced.

Heading back to Chicago is outfield prospect Dylan Campbell and infield prospect Jose Colmenares. Neither player is considered a top 30 prospect within the Phillies organization.

Campbell joined the Phillies via a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. for the international bonus pool money. That money was used to help land the Dodgers pitcher Roki Sasaki.

This season, Derek Hill is hitting .213 with a .659 OPS. Hill can play all three outfield positions, something the Phillies were looking for in a depth piece. He is a right-handed hitter.

Hill has four home runs this season. Ironically, his last came against the Phillies when these two teams met just days ago in Philadelphia.

The journeyman outfielder has played for the Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins, and, of course, the Chicago White Sox.

With Adolis Garcia likely heading to the Injured List, Hill will replace Garcia on the Phillies' active roster.

The Phillies opted to acquire Hill, rather than promote from Triple-A. This move showcases their feelings towards Otto Kemp and Felix Reyes as substitute options in the outfield.

Hill will join the Phillies in Milwaukee ahead of their series with the Brewers.
