The Philadelphia Phillies sent minor league pitcher Andrew Baker to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for additional international bonus pool money. The 26–year-old right-handed hurler was an 11th-round draft pick (325th pick) of the 2021 MLB Draft.
Baker appeared in 14 games this season for the Reading Fightin Phils with a 0-1 record, a 2.65 ERA, two holds, and one save. In his minor league career, the Montgomery, Alabama native owns a 12–14 record with a 5.28 ERA and 324 strikeouts over 228.1 innings pitched across 196 games.
According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the international bonus money is expected to go towards the signing of Chan-min Park, a 17-year-old pitcher from South Korea. Philadelphia reached an agreement with the international free agent last month.
Park stands 6-foot-3 with a fastball that touches 94 miles per hour (mph) on the radar gun. He consistently throws strikes with a four-pitch mix (fastball, slider, curverball, and changeup/splitter).
