The Philadelphia Phillies are proud partners with Citizens Bank and Philabundance, a charity designed to prevent and alleviate food insecurity in the Philadelphia area. This partnership has grown over the years and the latest installment of this pairing recently kicked off plans for the 2023 season.
The Phillies have proven to be an organization that values giving back and with another year of "Phans Feeding Families", help is coming to those in need.
Phans Feeding Families
In an effort to help those in our area that struggle with having consistent meals, the Phillies, Citizens Bank, and Philabundance are launching a food drive live from Citizens Bank Park.
On June 24, the Phillies will host the New York Mets for a 4:05 p.m. ballgame. At the game, you can bring food with you to the stadium to donate to Philabundance, where it will then be packaged and sent to the respective families.
For this game, fans can purchase theme night tickets, and proceeds from the tickets will go directly to the charity. Getting a chance to give back and enjoy a ballgame is not only a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon but also an opportunity to help a fellow Phillies fan.
Other efforts for the cause
If you are unable to attend the ballgame, there are still other ways to help.
Non-perishable food items are always available to be donated directly to Philabundance, which is directly down the street from the stadiums in South Philly. For every $1 that is donated, you are helping provide enough food for two meals.
If you are unable to donate food or funds, you can also donate your time at the charity center, packaging food, moving boxes, or any other tasks that may be required. The organization thrives on volunteer work and it is tremendously grateful for support in any way.
Citizens Bank announced a donation of $50,000 directly to Philabundance, which will help purchase 100,000 meals that will be given out in an effort to end hunger in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
