Setting the stage
The battle between the two National League titans will feature some of the best hitters and pitchers across Major League Baseball. Friday night's series opener matchup will not disappoint, featuring Cristopher Sánchez going against two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani. The rest of the matchups, yet to be announced, will feature some combination of Jesús Luzardo and Ranger Suárez for the Phillies and Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell for the Dodgers.
The showdown between the titans of the NL East and NL West will determine whether the Phillies will return to the NLCS for the first time since 2023, thus keeping their hopes for the World Series alive, or whether the Dodgers will keep their hopes alive of defending their title and becoming the first team since 2000 to win the World Series in consecutive years.
