The 4th Annual Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest returns to Girard College on Sept. 12 to uncork an afternoon of “sipping, savoring and vibing.”
Presented by Kabila Events, the festival brings together premium wine, spirits, music, art and food experiences, with this year’s theme dubbed “From Bourbon Street to Broad Street.”
The 2026 theme is meant to transform Philadelphia into a New Orleans-inspired Mardi Gras celebration. Guests are encouraged to dress the part as well by donning outfits in purple, green and gold accented with black or cream.
As a release notes, the name Kabila, meaning “tribe” in Swahili, reflects the festival’s mission of bringing people together through shared experiences, culture and joy. Much like Grenache, one of the world’s most welcoming and versatile grape varieties, the festival celebrates the idea that there is always room at the table for another guest. As International Grenache Day is celebrated each September, Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest offers its own invitation to gather, discover new flavors, and celebrate Black culture.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees can enjoy wine and spirits tastings from popular brands and local favorites, along with live DJs, performances and immersive art experiences. Interactive photo installations, food vendors and a curated marketplace will also be on site. VIP guests will also receive exclusive early access beginning at 1 p.m., with General Sips admission beginning at 3 p.m.
"This festival is about more than what's in your glass," says Sonia "Sunny" Blount, creator of the Philly Black Wine & Spirits Fest and founder of Kabila Events. "We created this space unapologetically for our community to experience culture and joy together. Wine lovers, distillers, entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives deserve to be centered, celebrated and seen. From Bourbon Street to Broad Street, we're proving that our culture belongs at every table and we're raising a glass to that."
