1st Period Notes...

After a sloppy start to the game, the Flyers paid for it as Travis Konecny was called for a call interference call 3 minutes in. On the power-play, the Kings only had one shot on goal.  However, just over the half-way mark of the power-play, Kings Drew Doughty rung one off the crossbar. Flyers killed it off easily after that shot.

The Kings would strike soon after. Off a faceoff, the puck found Kings defenseman Alec Martinez, who fired a bullet past Elliott for the goal. Elliott was screened on the play by his teammate Taylor Leier. 1-0 Kings.

But, Elliott showed no breakdown after the goal. Right off the draw, the Kings took the puck into the zone and Elliott came up huge with a pad-stacking save. Still 1-0 Kings.

Then, it was the Flyers turn. Just about over the 10:00 mark of the 1st, Flyers Sean Couturier & Wayne Simmonds got away for a 2v1. Couturier somehow got a pass around the Kings defender and hit Simmonds in tight. However, Quick made the save on Simmonds. Still 1-0 Kings.

The Flyers would get another opportunity. This time on the power-play after Scott Laughton was tripped up entering the Kings zone. It was a very impressive power-play by the Flyers. But, no goal.

However, just when you thought the Flyers were gaining momentum, Elliott gave up a weak goal to Kings Trevor Lewis. 2-0 Kings.

But, the Flyers would answer a minute later.  After a penalty to Kings Torrey Mitchell for slashing the stick out of a Flyers hand, the Flyers struck. After a Claude Giroux shot was blocked by Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, it found Jake Voracek's stick, who fired it into the wide-open net. 2-1 Kings.

Period ends 2-1 Kings.

2nd Period Notes...

Another Flyers 2nd period and another roaring Flyers start. Kick-started with a power-play just 33 seconds into the 2nd, it was another great effort, but Quick and the Kings had all the answers.

Ffter the power-play, it was the Kings turn for pressure. The Kings had a great next couple of minutes. However, Flyers goalie, Brian Elliott stole the show. None bigger than his highlight reel save on KIngs Marian Gaborik.

Then, the period opened up and moved fairly quickly. The Kings would have a chance, then the Flyers, but nobody could generate any sustained pressure.

The only fun part of the second half of the 2nd was Nolan Patrick got into a stick fight with Tanner Pearson. Both sat for 2 minutes for slashing.

Period ends 2-1 Kings.

3rd Period Notes...

You could not have asked for a better start to the 3rd period for a team trailing by a goal. The Flyers came out roaring and had a net-mouth opportunity on the stick of Michael Raffl, who was stoned by Quick. But, the Flyers pressure wouldn't end there.

The Flyers got another power-play after Kings Adrian Kempe cross-checked Dale Weise into the boards head first. It was a usual Flyers power-play with great pressure. But, yet again no goal.

However, to make matters worse, just 6 seconds after Kempe exited the box, he scored. 3-1 Kings.

Then, things got even worse for the Flyers as Kings Dustin Brown deflected home a shot for the goal. But, for the first time, the Flyers actually won a goalie interference challenge. Brown was in the crease and clearly interfered with Elliott. Still 3-1 Kings.

Then, it was time for Captain Claude Giroux to take over the game. Giroux had great shift after great shift and rewarded the Flyers with a power-play after he was taken done after a shot on goal. Again, a great power-play, but no goal. Story of the night for the Flyers.

But, with 4:29 left in the 3rd, the Kings iced it.  Off of a bad turnover by Sean Couturier in center, the Kings entered the zone with numbers and made the Flyers pay. 4-1 Kings.

Raffl was whistled for a horrible interference call with 2:50 remaining after he was cross-checked into the zone and was just trying to get back on-sides.

And, to top it all off? After being held scoreless all night, just to get his name on the box score, Drew Doughty took a holding penalty with 6 seconds left.

Period ends 4-1 Kings.
