A lot officer for the Philadelphia Parking Authority was killed Wednesday morning after he was hit by one of the authority’s trucks.The PPA identified the worker killed as Jeffrey Bayers, 60, a 13-year employee.Police say Bayers died when a tow truck backed over him in a PPA lot on the 2500 block of Weccacoe.The PPA is conducting an investigation into what happened. There is no word on any disciplinary action against the driver, the authority says.“It’s a tragic accident,” said authority spokesman Marty O’Rourke. “We’re looking into seeing what happened.O’Rourke says Bayers’ death marks the first time in recent memory that a PPA employee has died on the job, possibly the first in the authority’s history.
