ESPN Insider Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that former Toronto Raptors' player development coach Rico Hines has joined Nick Nurse's Sixers staff in Philadelphia. Hines will be joining the Nurse in Philly as a "front-of-the-bench" assistant coach. Hines has experience as an assistant coach in the past, joining the Sacramento Kings as an assistant under Luke Walton before moving on to Toronto in 2022.

Hines is widely respected and known around the league for player development and his summer pick-up games at UCLA during the offseason. Plenty of his former players and NBA stars have joined in pick-up games to work on their craft and get ready for the upcoming season. Last offseason, Hines gathered the entire Toronto Raptors team for workouts in LA and had James Harden show up as well.
Not only is Nurse building his staff with coaches that players respect and have connections with, but he is also building his staff with coaches who can help players take a leap of improvement. Hines will be counted on to help get Sixers players like Tyrese Maxey to the next level, but also provide a level of comfort for impending free agents like James Harden.
