Mobile separates the contenders from the pretenders when evaluating players for the April NFL Draft. By the end of Senior Bowl week, resumés don’t matter, and everyone's preseason boards changed drastically. How the players fared against the best of the best is what it all comes down to, and these five left Mobile with momentum and rose up draft boards, potentially interesting Eagles GM Howie Roseman as a result.
Fields may have been the most complete of the bigger receivers in Mobile. He ran precise routes, exuded body control, and his downfield ball skills were capped by one of the best catches of the week. He entered Mobile projected as a mid-round selection, and he left in the conversation as a potential early Day 2 pick.
Moore plays with violence, not finesse. He consistently won with quickness and displayed more power than expected at the point of attack. His pass-rush production at Michigan, 15.5% pass rush rate, and 10.4% run stop rate translated to the Senior Bowl setting.
Rutledge is a people-mover in the run game, and his mobility and versatility stood out. His competitiveness is fueled by a compelling comeback story, and Rutledge uses that fuel to play through the whistle and welcome contact. He is viewed as a player who can elevate an NFL O-line.
Arizona State OT Max Iheanachor
Iheanachor was the best tackle at the Senior Bowl. For a guy his size, he moved effortlessly in pass protection, stayed balanced, and shut down pass rushers in one-on-ones. Max has the talent to be a swing tackle for an NFL team in is first season, and will take over RT for a franchise thereafter. The Anchor made more money than anyone else in Mobile. He entrenched himself as a top-50 pick.
Jacas showed why he’s been a draft favorite. His speed and explosiveness allowed him to win from multiple alignments, and he never sacrificed power. The pass-rush juice was impressive all week. He earned his jump up draft boards.
