Sixers' Dominick Barlow is among the NBA's brightest diamonds in the rough

Philadelphia's offseason addition has exceeded every expectation and then some.

The Philadelphia 76ers have recently converted their two-way forward Dominick Barlow to a standard contract for the remainder of the season. While the trade deadline was largely disappointing for the Sixers, failing to acquire any extra talent despite being buyers, the conversion of Barlow should not be overlooked.

Dominick Barlow took a slightly different route than usual to get to the NBA. After finishing high school as a four-star recruit, Barlow joined the Overtime Elite in preparation for the NBA. After one season with Overtime Elite, Barlow joined the Spurs as an undrafted rookie.

After spending two seasons in San Antonio and one season with the Atlanta Hawks, the New Jersey native Barlow signed a two-way deal with Philadelphia this past offseason.

Since joining the team, Barlow has been extremely impressive as the team's main power forward option on the season, and this all culminated in his best game as a pro against the New Orleans Pelicans on January 31, 2026. Barlow exploded for a career-high 26 points against the Pelicans while also contributing 16 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive boards.

Barlow has played in 42 of the Sixers' 53 games, starting 33 and averaging 24.0 minutes per game. In those games, Barlow has averaged 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting an impressive 55.6% from the field. Barlow’s size and length also lend themselves well to his defensive capabilities, averaging 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks a night.

While Barlow isn’t much of a shooter, as evidenced by his 27.9% shooting from deep, he has shown a willingness to shoot when open, as evidenced by his 17 made threes this season. This places Barlow fourth among 76ers players wearing number 25 in threes made since 2000.

Barlow’s outstanding hustle and work ethic have been on full display this season. The fact that he was able to contribute so much on a two-way contract is even more impressive. This is another recent success story for the Sixers usage of two-way contracts in the modern NBA landscape. Now that the Sixers have converted Barlow to a standard deal, they should no longer have to worry about availability for their young forward.
