The Philadelphia 76ers are returning home after taking two games of their three-game road trip. As the Sixers prepare to play in front of their home crowd once again, they will do so with two games in three nights against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the top team in the Eastern Conference last season.
Ahead of the matchup, the Sixers released their preliminary injury report, which included three of the team's starters.
Joel Embiid, Paul George and VJ Edgecombe were all listed as PROBABLE for the game with various injuries. Embiid continues to manage his injured left knee while also dealing with left adductor soreness, which he played through Monday night against the Raptors. Paul George's inclusion is also due to left knee injury management, something far from uncommon for either of the Sixers' stars.
The most concerning—though the word "most" is thankfully used loosely—is the inclusion of rookie sensation VJ Edgecombe, who is a new name on the report after suffering a left adductor contusion.
It's a bit difficult to pinpoint exactly when Edgecombe suffered the injury, but it appears to be at about a minute and a half into the fourth quarter, after a collision with Raptors guard Jamal Shead in Monday night's game.
Edgecombe was seen tending to the area over the next few minutes and eventually came out of the game. He returned later in the quarter, and the injury is not considered a long-term concern.
Like his fellow starters, Edgecombe is listed as probable, not even questionable, so it seems like, for now, the Sixers and their electric rookie have dodged an injury bullet.
