Joel Embiid questionable, Tyrese Maxey available as Sixers travel to face Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers have enjoyed a prolonged holiday break as they prepare to play just their fourth game in 14 days tomorrow against the New York Knicks. Ahead of the matchup, the Sixers released their first injury report for the game, including a positive update on franchise star Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey missed the team's two previous games due to an illness, but was back at practice Thursday morning and officially off the injury report later that afternoon. The Sixers are in dire need of their most valuable player as they face a Knicks team that has lost just one home game in 14 played.

Paul George and Jared McCain will also be available for Friday's game.

While the team received several positive updates, Joel Embiid was listed as questionable, though his status should be no direct cause for concern, as the Sixers are set to play a back-to-back, coming home to face the Dallas Mavericks after the Knicks. Which game Embiid plays will ultimately be decided by his "process," but playing Friday night would increase the Sixers' chances against the Knicks while also enabling him to showcase himself a bit on one of his favorite stages.

In addition to Embiid, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford remained listed on the injury report and will miss Friday's game against the Knicks, while rookies Johni Broome and Hunter Sallis were both listed as doubtful.

The Sixers will tip off against the Knicks at 7:00 p.m. from Madison Square Garden.
