CAMDEN — After suffering an incidental hit to the right side of his torso Thursday night, Sixers star Joel Embiid reported increased soreness, causing him to miss the team’s Saturday morning practice.

Embiid’s status for the team’s upcoming game against the Celtics in Boston is unknown, but he will again consult with doctors Saturday before the team releases its injury report for the matchup.

In the Sixers’ 124-117 victory over the Miami Heat, Embiid played just over 31 minutes, scoring 26 points, including the final three-point dagger to seal the game. Embiid’s success came despite suffering an inadvertent blow to his midsection from Heat center Kel’el Ware early in the second quarter, which led to him briefly exiting the game and heading to the locker room before returning a couple of minutes later.

Even after returning, Embiid continued to experience clear discomfort for the remainder of the game. In his postgame availability, head coach Nick Nurse stated he did not yet have much of an update. Embiid did not speak after the game, as he left the locker room before it was open to the media.
